In this release, we take the Wall Street Journal’s 50 Top Venture-backed companies list but use our data to rank the same companies they did. The Wall Street Journal top 50 is here. While many of the companies listed are very high performers, and all are impressive businesses, we think that the WSJ methodology falls short. The WSJ methodology gives companies points if they have raised a lot of money from fancy investors and have a famous management team.
At Momentum Index, we don’t care who your daddy is. We care about execution and growth. We give you extra points if you are capital efficient.
We want to be clear that we did not select the companies on the list below. The Wall Street Journal selected these companies. We have just used our data to rank the companies they selected our own way. Our top company list would include many companies not listed by the WSJ. (Stay tuned in Q2 for our overall ranking of top companies).
Here is our take on companies on the Wall Street Journal Top 50 companies list using Momentum Index data. (Note that we have excluded a few companies that we don't cover in out current data run). |
